Dr Matthew Cassidy

An acoustic expert with over 10 years’ industry experience, Matthew is currently the Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Cassidy Acoustics. He had previously held the position of Technical Director for an established noise consultancy, and has also worked as the Acoustics Manager for a wind farm developer, specialising in environmental noise.
Matthew has professional expertise in the critical review as well as experience contributing to public inquiries. For the Northern Ireland Inquiry into Wind Energy regarding noise impact from wind farms, Matthew addressed the Committee for the Environment at Stormont, Belfast. He has worked on a study of assessment practices for noise impacts from renewable technologies with the project steering group comprising ClimateXChange and Scottish Government officials.
Matthew has completed a PhD in noise control of diesel generators, and attained a top student award for the Institute of Acoustics post-graduate diploma. He has vast experience in data analysis, and has developed bespoke noise software. As a chartered engineer, and a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics and Institute of Physics, Matthew regularly attends meetings and conferences, and has presented at the International Conference on Wind Turbine Noise on several occasions. Matthew is Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) qualified for Managers and Professionals.
